The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver exceptional, evidence-based patient care. PTAs help patients recover from injury, improve mobility, reduce pain, and achieve their personal goals while creating an outstanding patient experience every visit.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Deliver individualized treatment interventions as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.

  • Progress therapeutic exercise programs within the established plan of care and supervising PT’s direction.

  • Provide manual therapy and other skilled interventions within the PTA scope of practice.

  • Educate patients on exercises, recovery expectations, and healthy movement strategies.

  • Monitor patient progress and communicate clinical observations to the supervising Physical Therapist.

  • Document treatments accurately and within required timeframes.

  • Collaborate with Physical Therapists, Clinic Directors, Front Desk Ambassadors, and Aides to ensure seamless patient care.

  • Participate in mentorship, clinical education, and professional development opportunities.

  • Apply new knowledge and skills to improve patient care within the PTA scope of practice.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe treatment environment.

  • Uphold all state practice acts, company policies, and ethical standards.

  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture focused on patient success and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.

  • Current Massachusetts PTA license or eligibility for licensure.

  • Current CPR certification.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to exceptional customer service and patient-centered care.

  • Willingness to learn, seek feedback, and continue developing professionally.

Preferred

  • Outpatient orthopedic experience.

  • Manual therapy experience.

  • Experience using electronic medical records.

  • Interest in advancing clinical skills, specialty knowledge, or leadership capabilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and assist patients throughout the day.

  • Lift, move, or assist patients and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Demonstrate therapeutic exercises and manual techniques.

  • Maintain the physical stamina necessary for an active outpatient clinical environment.
